Retirement and Later-Life Coaching
More than planning ahead, a thoughtful space to explore who you are now and what comes next.
Later life isn’t simply a transition out of work. It’s a threshold into a different way of living, one shaped by meaning, identity, wellbeing and the desire to live in a way that feels true. With more than 30 years of experience as a Chartered Psychologist, I work with people who want more than surface-level advice. My approach is reflective, psychologically grounded and centred on living with purpose in the young-old years (60–80) and beyond.
My work is guided by ThriveSpan, a gentle philosophy that charts a more conscious path through later life, where wellbeing, intention and reflection meet.
Is this for you?
Many people come to me when they sense a shift in their inner landscape. The questions are rarely just practical.
They often sound like:
Who am I now that life looks different?
What truly matters to me at this stage?
How do I build a meaningful rhythm for the years ahead?
Where do I still want to contribute, learn or grow?
What needs to be released, and what wants to emerge?
If you’re seeking space to explore these questions with depth and clarity, this work is for you.
What we can explore together
Each conversation is shaped around what’s unfolding in your life. We may look at:
Navigating transitions, thresholds and changing roles
Rebuilding identity after long careers or caring responsibilities
Meaning, purpose and contribution in later life
Creating new rhythms, routines and ways of living
Emotional patterns that no longer serve you
Building confidence, courage and agency in the years ahead
Letting go, simplifying and realigning with your values
Preparing for your next chapter with intention rather than pressure
This is not a programme or a formula. It’s a grounded, collaborative space to understand where you are and what wants to unfold next.
How I work
My approach is reflective and psychologically informed, drawing on:
Deep listening and thoughtful questioning
Life review and meaning-making techniques
Identity and values exploration
Later-life transition work
My ThriveSpan philosophy
Optional nature-based sessions in my woodland for those who prefer reflective work outdoors
Some clients work with me for a single clarity session. Others return periodically, or choose a series of conversations to support deeper change.
Nature-based option
Sometimes insight arrives more easily outdoors. I offer the option to meet in my private woodland in Gloucestershire, a peaceful space for gentle exploration, reflection and connection.
Woodland sessions may include:
Solo time in nature
Guided reflective exercises
Threshold conversations
Quiet, unhurried space to think
These sessions are calm, spacious and held with care.
Optional tools
For some clients, I also use specialist assessments to deepen our work. One example is the Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) — a gold-standard assessment of natural abilities. It measures the talents you’re born with, rather than skills learned over time, and can provide valuable clarity when you’re considering new directions in later life.
Ways we can work together
Individual Insight Session (£297)
A focused 90-minute Zoom consultation, guided by a pre-session questionnaire covering 8 key life areas. You’ll leave with clarity and a practical plan, plus a recording to revisit.
6-Month Programme (£1997)
Ongoing support for those wanting depth and accountability. Includes regular coaching calls, personality assessment, and insights from my doctoral research.
Executive & Organisational Support
Specialist help for senior leaders: succession planning, knowledge transfer, and personal retirement coaching. Also available: bespoke pre-retirement seminars for organisations.
A personal note
My own later life has been full of transitions:
At 61
I undertook a Vision Quest.
At 62
I began doctoral research into meaningful ageing.
At 63
I bought a woodland and trained in Deep Imagery.
At 65
I signed a contract to write Rethinking Retirement for Positive Ageing.
At 68
I published Career Coaching for Midlife and Beyond, bringing together decades of practice before stepping into a more spacious phase of work.
These milestones shaped both my life and my belief that retirement can be a time of renewal.
Nature-Based Option
Sometimes the clearest answers come when we step outside.
In the stillness of my woodland near Gloucester, you’ll have space to pause, breathe, and listen for what wants to emerge.
A day in nature can reset your balance and open the path to your next chapter.
How to begin
You’re welcome to begin with a single paid 30-minute session.
It offers space to talk through what’s unfolding, what support you may need, and whether this work feels like a good fit.
30 minutes, reflective, focused on what matters now.
