Retirement and Later-Life Coaching
Beyond financial planning: shaping a meaningful next chapter
Retirement is not an ending but a transition — a chance to realign your life with what matters most. With over 35 years of experience and a doctorate in meaningful ageing, I work with people who want more than leisure: people seeking joy, purpose, and a renewed sense of identity in later life.
Is this for you?
Financial security is only part of the picture. The deeper questions often sound like:
Who am I without my work?
What do I want this next phase to look like?
How can I stay active, engaged, and fulfilled?
If these questions resonate, coaching offers a supportive space to explore them and to design a life that feels meaningful, balanced, and truly your own.
What we can work on
Identity beyond work
Purpose, joy, and possibilities in the years ahead
Balancing freedom, rest, and contribution
Confidence, transitions, and practical next steps
Trialling options and designing routines that fit
This work draws on my ThriveSpan philosophy, which charts a conscious path through later life where wellbeing, purpose, and reflection meet.
How can I help
Career focus
For those dissatisfied or uncertain about what’s next:
Clarity in decision-making
Exploring career or post-career options
Creating an action plan for fulfilment
Life balance
For those whose work is fine, but life feels out of sync:
Create a life that fits who you are now
Navigate transitions such as moving to part-time work
Identify what you want for the years ahead
My role is not to tell you what to do, but to open possibilities and help you make your own choices. Together, we’ll create a path that feels real and achievable.
Optional tools
For some clients, I also use specialist assessments to deepen our work. One example is the Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) — a gold-standard assessment of natural abilities. It measures the talents you’re born with, rather than skills learned over time, and can provide valuable clarity when you’re considering new directions in later life.
Ways we can work together
Individual Insight Session (£297)
A focused 90-minute Zoom consultation, guided by a pre-session questionnaire covering 8 key life areas. You’ll leave with clarity and a practical plan, plus a recording to revisit.
6-Month Programme (£1997)
Ongoing support for those wanting depth and accountability. Includes regular coaching calls, personality assessment, and insights from my doctoral research.
Executive & Organisational Support
Specialist help for senior leaders: succession planning, knowledge transfer, and personal retirement coaching. Also available: bespoke pre-retirement seminars for organisations.
A personal note
My own later life has been full of transitions:
At 61
I undertook a Vision Quest.
At 62
I began doctoral research into meaningful ageing.
At 63
I bought a woodland and trained in Deep Imagery.
At 65
I signed a contract to write Rethinking Retirement for Positive Ageing.
These milestones shaped both my life and my belief that retirement can be a time of renewal.
Nature-Based Option
Sometimes the clearest answers come when we step outside.
In the stillness of my woodland near Gloucester, you’ll have space to pause, breathe, and listen for what wants to emerge.
A day in nature can reset your balance and open the path to your next chapter.
Take the next step
To explore whether this approach is right for you, you can book a 30-minute consultation.
The fee is £75, fully refunded if you continue with either an individual session or the six-month programme.
This time is yours to ask questions, share your goals, and experience my coaching style before committing further.
Your questions answered
Why is there a charge?
The fee ensures that appointments are taken seriously and reserved for those genuinely interested.
What if I go ahead?
If you choose an individual session or six-month programme within three months of your consultation, your £75 fee will be deducted from the payment.
What if I decide not to continue?
That’s absolutely fine. The consultation is yours to use, with no obligation to continue.
