Vision Quest - Nature-Based Experiences

A guided rite of passage in nature

In a fast-paced world, it can be hard to hear what matters most. A Vision Quest offers something rare: time away from everyday life to listen deeply and without distraction.

Rooted in ancient rites of passage, the Quest creates space for personal reckoning and renewal through solitude, simplicity, and immersion in the natural world.

Lords-Ladies

Is this for you?

You may feel drawn to a Vision Quest if you are:

At a crossroads and seeking clarity about your next phase

Ready to step away from familiar routines to reflect more deeply

Entering a new stage of life and wanting time to listen rather than act

Holding a question that ordinary pace and conversation cannot answer

The Quest offers a quiet, contained space for reflection. It does not provide answers, but it supports insight to emerge in its own time.

This work sits within my broader ThriveSpan approach, which sees later life as a period where purpose, wellbeing, and reflection come together.

The journey

A Vision Quest unfolds in three stages, each held with care and clear boundaries.

Severance

Three days at base camp with a small group. This time supports preparation and gentle letting go of habits and distractions. You will be introduced to simple awareness practices and take part in shared rituals that help mark the transition into solitude.

Threshold

Four days and nights alone in nature. During this time there are no books, phones, clocks, or external input. With fasting and simplicity, attention deepens and reflection becomes more focused. Nature provides the setting, not the instruction.

Incorporation

Returning to base camp, you rejoin the group to share what has emerged. This stage supports meaning-making and practical integration, helping you carry insights back into daily life with care and realism.e.

About your guide

I bring over three decades of experience as a psychologist, alongside extensive training in rites-of-passage and nature-based work. I was apprenticed by David Wendel Berry, who introduced Vision Quest work to the UK, and I continue to support his work.

My approach is grounded, careful, and respectful of the traditions that shape this practice. I work primarily with people in midlife and later life, supporting moments of transition, reflection, and reorientation in their lives.
